Process
A wig of this quality is not a mass-produced item, but the result of a carefully structured journey. Every commission passes through 8 essential phases, each tailored to the specific requirements of the production and the anatomy of the wearer. This is how I turn a concept into an invisible masterpiece.
Every project begins with a personal consultation at the atelier. I learn about the production, the character or the request — and you learn how I work. Only then do we begin.
01 Hair up & Analysis
I begin by analysing the head and pinning up the hair. This is the preparation phase: the hair is secured and tucked away to form a natural base onto which the wig sits optimally — placing the desired volume in exactly the right position.
02 Precision measurements (taking a mould)
No two heads are the same. Using specialist foil, I take an exact impression of the wearer's head. This mould is the blueprint for a perfect fit — essential for comfort during daily wear or long shooting sessions.
03 Shape correction & Standardisation
The unique foil impression is transferred to a standard head block. Here I adjust the shape to integrate specific requirements (e.g. extra volume, a particular hairline) before construction begins.
04 Lace Preparation & Selection
The choice of base is crucial. For film close-ups, for example, I select ultra-thin lace that becomes virtually invisible. The lace is hand-stitched and tensioned correctly to ensure a perfect transition. The hairline is positioned so that it reads as natural from every camera angle.
05 Hair Selection & Composition
From my extensive stock I select hair that matches exactly in length, colour and texture to achieve the desired look. I manually combine different shades to create natural nuances.
06 Knotting (Ventilation)
The heart of the craft. Using a fine hook, I knot each strand individually onto the base — a technique known in the trade as "ventilation". This process takes many hours and is precisely what sets a handmade wig apart: a natural movement and fall that machine production cannot replicate.
07 Fitting & Micro-adjustments
The first fitting is crucial. I try the wig on the wearer, check the fit, the weight and the natural line. Even the smallest imperfections are corrected immediately — fit and realism admit no compromise.
08 Final Styling & Finishing
The finishing touches: cutting, styling and final dressing. The wig is prepared for wear, with instructions on maintenance and handling.
